Although our camps take place in public spaces, we would like to limit distractions during the program. Please check-in with camp staff. staff may ask you to leave so they may continue with the day’s activities.
All applicants go through an interview and review process. Once a candidate has been selected, they must be cleared by the DOJ using fingerprints before being hired.
Our district wants to ensure that individuals with disabilities or special needs are encouraged to register and participate in our programs. If you have specific access needs in order to participate, please CLICK HERE for more information.
We would be happy to be part of your child’s special day. Please inform the staff at least a day before you plan to celebrate so that they can plan accordingly. All birthday celebrations will be held at the end of the day, so as not to interfere with programming. Only store-bought items can be shared with the camp.
Staff cannot administer any medication to participants. Each child must be responsible for tracking and taking in their prescribed medication during camp.
Should the camp be canceled for any unforeseen reason, we will notify you via ePACT using both email and text message. Please be certain to have accurate and up to date information on your ePACT forms.

Sadly, we cannot take everyone into our programs. If someone withdraws from the program, a spot will open up, we will notify people by order of their placement on the waitlist.
If head lice are reported during programming, all parents will receive a notification from camp outlining the steps to take to ensure your child is not infected. Individual information will not be shared with the community. Carriers of head lice will not be allowed to stay at site. Any participant with head lice must be clear of infestation for a minimum of 24-hours before returning to camp.
Staff will call 911 should your child have a reaction and require injection. All staff members are trained in administering EPI-pens. All camper medications should be provided and carried by the camper. Please be certain to inform the staff if your child carries an Epi-pen and where they are keeping. We cannot store it for you.
ePACT is a secured website that collects and manages critical emergency information. Our programs utilize ePACT to replace paper forms and ensure we have the most up-to-date and accurate medical information in case of an emergency.

Yes. Each Thursday Potowatomi campers have the opportunity to attend an overnight in the park.
If your child chooses not to attend a field trip and still wishes to attend camp that day, they are welcome to stay back with the Tenderfoot Camp.
Only during your camps weekly cookout. Please refer to your weekly schedule for specific times and dates.
For hygiene purposes, all children are required to wear underwear under their clothing. Pull-ups are considered diapers and are not allowed. Staff will speak to a parent if the child is coming to school in pull-ups or without the appropriate underwear. Children with pants that are wet/soiled by a bowel movement on a regular basis will be considered not fully potty-trained. Staff will confer with parents regarding the child’s readiness for the program.

No, however, in the past we have worked with the Hayward Unified School District for providing us breakfast and lunch. This is not always guaranteed.
Your child is required to wear closed-toed shoes. In addition, they should wear PLAY CLOTHES. It is recommended to dress in layers as morning programs may be cold and foggy and later in the day become hot and sunny.
No. We maintain a safe staff to camper ratio. Everything is planned and paid for in advance.
Please keep your child home on field trip days because the site will be closed during that time.

What should my child bring to camp?
Yes. Vida Nueva campers will have the opportunity to attend two overnights during their session. The first week’s overnight is scheduled for Thursday and the second week’s overnight will be on Tuesday.
