The Japanese Gardens is open daily from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., except Christmas Day.

 Japanese Garden Wedding Site

The Japanese Garden wedding sites available for rent during daylight hours for weddings April through August. The Japanese Garden is located right next to the Hayward Senior Center on North Third Street at Crescent in Hayward. The wedding site is located on the lower loop pathway near the entrance to the garden. The number of persons attending cannot exceed 50 and there is no alcohol, food, or beverages allowed. Applications may be submitted no less than 30 days or more than 11 months in advance. The garden is not available on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.

To check availability please call the Recreation District Office at 510-881-6700 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Resident Rate

District residents should be prepared to show proof of residency in order to secure the discounted resident rate. A current photo identification and utility bill will suffice. This process should take approximately 30 minutes. Any balance due must be paid in full 30 days prior to your event. Check out our facility rates and rules.

Rescheduling

Occasionally, the district may find it necessary to reschedule, relocate, or perhaps cancel a previously approved function. In that event, the District will give as much advance notice as possible. In the event of a cancellation, the entire rental fee and all deposits will be refunded.
