Hayward Area Recreation and Park District is asking for community input on the San Lorenzo Creekway

2020-0422 SLC Flyer-Spanish

Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D.) and the Alameda County Flood Control & Water Conservation District (ACFCD) invite the community to share their ideas on the San Lorenzo Creekway. The San Lorenzo Creekway will be a multi-use path for walking and biking, connecting communities in San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward and Castro Valley.

The San Lorenzo Creekway project team is excited to announce additions to the community engagement schedule!  The CTC has announced an extension to the 2020 ATP grant application deadline from June 15th to September 15th, and with that extension, the project team has adapted the master plan and community engagement schedule to accommodate more time for feedback and participation.  In addition to the events already announced, the Online Survey will remain open for responses through July 15th, and an additional Community Meeting has been added to the schedule.  Please see the Project Schedule on the website for the latest information on dates and RSVP links. Many of the community events will be held online – so make sure to RSVP in order to receive Zoom meeting invite details.

Residents are invited to share their thoughts on the concept in a brief online survey The survey will be open until July 15, 2020.

SPECIAL REMINDER: Every individual member of a household is eligible to take the survey! We want and welcome school age children through seniors to take the survey. STUDENTS, WE NEED YOU!  Even if someone in your house has already taken it, this is like YOUR opportunity to “vote” for the project by completing the survey.

The project is part of a state-wide Caltrans Active Transportation Program (ATP) grant application process that is now due on September 15, 2020. The goal is to obtain as much feedback from the community as possible, in order to submit an application for the grant. In recognition of the limited ability to meet in person, several virtual meetings have been scheduled:

• Virtual Community Workshop: Meeting can be viewed here:

• Virtual Coffee Chat: Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 10am – RSVP here!

Please RSVP on the link or contact HARD to participate. HARD and ACFCD plan to host additional public meetings in the future. Completion of the on-going master plan project is anticipated in Summer 2020. A Virtual Site Tour will be on the HARD website soon!

For more information about the project, please contact Project Manager Michael Williams at, or visit the San Lorenzo Creekway Outreach site at:
