Linda McEntrye is being recognized as the April 2023 Volunteer of the Month. Linda is a wonderful volunteer in the Special Needs Program at Sorensdale Center and in the Senior Adult Program at the Hayward Area Senior Center.
Linda began as a paid part-time Instructor at Sorensdale in 1986. She also worked at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont and at the Friends of Children with Special Needs. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the special populations field and she now brings all of this knowledge and wealth to H.A.R.D.’s programs. Linda volunteers at least one day a week at Sorensdale where she works directly with the participants; taking groups out for fitness; working in the computer lab, and working in the lunch program. She is very patient and kindhearted, and the participants really care for her as she does an incredible job.
In addition to Sorensdale, Linda has also committed to one day a week of volunteering at the Hayward Area Senior Center. She works at the front desk, answering the telephone, checking in participants for classes, signing up people for lunch, and answering general questions and helping with general office work. She always has a big smile and great customer service and really makes everyone around her feel welcome.
Linda is a busy person, who volunteers at Eden Hospital, and she is involved with a Ukelele Group. This group has put on performances at Sorensdale, which are a big hit that everyone enjoys.
Linda is an unassuming and modest person, but has proofed to be dependable and a wonderful volunteer that we all value, and we are happy to have the Board of Directors recognize her for her volunteer service.
