Madison Salvato has been a volunteer at Sulphur Creek Nature Center for 10 years, donating 1,449 hours of her time on Saturday mornings. Madison assists with a variety of tasks in the wildlife hospital and providing care for the resident animals as well as those in wildlife rehabilitation.
As a long-term volunteer, Madison has become an incredible asset to staff assisting with animal intakes, patient care, preparation of specialized diets, caring for dozens of baby birds during the spring, and preparing outside caging for animals ready to acclimate to the outside world before being released. Madison has also been wonderful support to the Flight to Freedom event.
In addition to all her other volunteer duties, Madison trains and oversees volunteers handling Sulphur Creek’s Animal Lending Library, a longstanding popular program. She is instrumental in training new volunteers for a variety of duties needed on different shifts and is a key person in helping staff keep all the volunteers on track for the day.
Madison’s skills in working with the public and other volunteers, are key to her success and variety of assignments. Madison is truly valuable to HARD and to the animals at Sulphur Creek. She is reliable, hardworking and extremely fun to be around.
