has been selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for December 2011. She is a volunteer in the Ashland Community Center’s Youth Activity Zone (Y.A.Z.) and, so far this year, has donated over 100 volunteer hours.
She volunteers in the Y.A.Z. program from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, helping provide artistic learning techniques and sharing her knowledge of fine arts with the participants. Since becoming a part of the program and, by helping others, Joan has impacted the lives of many individuals, while also helping provide valuable resources, and inspiration she shares with the Ashland community at large. Joan is a very caring individual and takes time out to make a difference in the community and in the lives of our youth. Her presence shows participants of the Y.A.Z. Program that there are adults like Joan Howard who care about their community.
She will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2011, which will be announced in January, 2012. |
