The PhotoCentral
Program is pleased to nominate as the Volunteer
of the Month for December 2008. Ms. Eady has been a volunteer in
the PhotoCentral Program since 1998. During 2008, She has unselfishly
contributed over 1000 volunteer hours as chairperson and coordinator
of many PhotoCentral exhibitions and events during the year.
Susan organizes and coordinates the Sunday Photo Group, a monthly gathering
of PhotoCentral photographers to share work and to discuss techniques,
along with a monthly newsletter for the group. She has been in
many PhotoCentral exhibitions and is always instrumental in organization,
reception planning and hanging the exhibitions. Her biggest service
during 2008 was coordinating the 2008 PhotoCentral Benefit Auction, which
raised $20,000 for the PhotoCentral Programs. This task requires
contacting donors, getting the donated photographs, getting donations
for framing, framing the photographs, hanging the exhibition, promoting
the auction, organizing a website for online bids, coordinating the reception/auction
closing, and keeping track of the bids. In addition, Susan Honda
Eady organized the many volunteers necessary to make the 2008 auction
a success. The next project that Susan has undertaken is assisting
with the exhibition of internationally known local photographer, Bill
Owens.
Susan is always there when called by PhotoCentral staff to help with
any project and goes the extra yard every time. PhotoCentral is
very grateful for the volunteer work of Susan Honda Eady, who brings
professionalism, dedication and detail-oriented attention to every aspect
of her work in the District’s PhotoCentral Program. |
