was selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for December 2007. He began volunteering at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre in 2005 when he worked as a deck manager for the Theatre’s production of “Camelot.”
His patience, attention to detail, organizational skills, and Theatre know-how immediately earned him the respect and admiration of the Theatre’s staff and volunteer crew. In 2006, he once again took on the challenge of managing the deck for the Theatre’s production of the “Sound of Music.” Mr. Hobbs masterfully juggled nuns, Nazis, scenery, props and unbearably cute children, keeping this large and complicated show running smoothly. In 2007 he took on the challenge of deck managing the zany musical, "Das Barbecu", organizing the furniture shifts, managing the prop tables, taking the special effects cues, and even shooting one of the actors at every performance. Most recently Bruce Hobbs managed the deck crews for"Oliver".
Bruce is liked and respected by everyone who works with him. His enthusiasm, unfailing good humor, and dedication to doing the job well has made him an invaluable member of the Douglas Morrisson Theatre’s production team.
His picture will be displayed in the District Administration Office as the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Awardee for December 2007. In addition, he will be eligible for the Volunteer-of-the-Year Award for 2007, which will be announced in January 2008. |
