The Senior Adult Program is pleased to nominate as the Volunteer of the Month for November 2009. Mr. Edgar has been a
volunteer at the Hayward Senior Center for over six years and contributed
a total of 277.5 volunteer hours during 2009.
Lee Edgar’s responsibilities have included selling lunch tickets, greeting
participants and making everyone feel welcome as they enter the Senior
Center. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Lee comes to the Senior Center early
to set up tables for the luncheon, which entails setting up napkins,
silverware, cups, creams, sugar and salt and pepper and placing them
on the table before lunch is served. In addition, he also assists with
taking an inventory of kitchen supplies on an annual basis. When the
Center has a special event, Lee always makes himself available to help
set up. During special events, he graciously volunteers as a photographer,
takes pictures, and prints and gives them to the seniors to keep. Lee
is very dependable and is truly dedicated to the Senior Adult Program.
He even came up to volunteer at the Kenneth C. Aitken Senior Center when
the Hayward Senior Center was closed for renovation. He has a warm and
friendly personality and a pleasure to be around. Mr. Lee Edgar is very
deserving of the recognition award and the Senior Adult Program Staff
is very happy to nominate him for the November 2009 Monthly Volunteer
Recognition Award.
He will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2009, which
will be announced in January. |
