has been selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for November 2007 for his dedicated service as a volunteer at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center where he has been contributing to many outdoor programs for over fifteen years.
Mansur leads monthly tours for families, children and adults on various topics, including astronomy, geology, mythology and plants. He is very popular with the Center’s visitors who request his special “Petro-Kids,” “Salt Marsh Safari” and “Myths of the Cosmos” programs that are offered during the summer. Mansur is a “renaissance man” who teaches at the University of California Berkeley and Chabot College and his knowledge of the San Francisco Bay area and the Hayward Shoreline geology, plants and wildlife of the salt marsh, and the myths and truths surrounding our cosmos is invaluable and appreciated by the Naturalist staff.
His picture will be displayed in the District Administration Office as the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Awardee for November 2007. In addition, he will be eligible for the Volunteer-of-the-Year Award for 2007, which will be announced in January 2008. |
