Congratulations to Our Volunteer of the Month

John EversonMr. Nick Everson has been selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for September 2007.  He has been a hard working and dedicated volunteer for over two years in the Programs for the Disabled, namely the Ward Creek Day Camp and the Saturday Youth Program in which he has donated 272 volunteer hours so far this year, and a grand total of 432 hours of service since first becoming a volunteer in the summer of 2006.

During the 2006 and 2007 summer, Nick volunteered at Ward Creek Day Camp and his primary responsibility was to assist camp counselors in organizing and facilitating activities such as arts and crafts, lawn games, water games, hikes, skits and overnight camping for the developmentally disabled adults.  He shared responsibility for the safety and well being of all campers during kid’s weeks.  Nick was once a participant of the Ward Creek Day Camp and the Saturday Youth Program.  The Disabled Program staff has watched Nick grow up to be a fine young man.  He is kind and gentle, is an inspiration to other young individuals and an asset to the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District.  Nick Everson is liked and respected by both the staff and participants of the Ward Creek Day Camp and the Saturday Youth Programs, and are very happy to know that he is being recognized for his volunteer service and dedication to the Programs for the Disabled.

His picture will be displayed in the District Administration Office as the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Awardee for September 2007.  In addition, he will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2007, which will be announced in January 2008.
