Jamie Freid, or "Lion" as he is known at camp, was selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for July 2011 for his volunteer work as a Junior Camp Counselor for Camps Tenderfoot and Potowatomi, in which he has worked a total of 160 hours this summer alone. Jamie has had eight years of camp experience (half of his life) starting as a Tenderfoot camper and growing up through Camp to be a Junior Counselor. Jamie has a great love for camp and is enjoying his second year as a Junior Counselor, responsible for the care and well-being of up to 12 summer day campers each week and for assisting the Camp Counselors and Camp Directors in many ways. He has led camp activities, such as hiking, arts and crafts, skits, group games and has supervised campers and their safety.
Lion is a dedicated and devoted Junior Camp Counselor and the Nature Camp staff is honored to have him recognized as the camp's volunteer this year. Camp Counselors describe Lion as an absolute pleasure to be around and his energy level is "through the roof." The campers absolutely love him and his amazing energy, and counselors say that his enthusiasm is infectious. It is Lion’s energy and enthusiasm that really adds to the camp dynamics that everyone loves so much.
Jamie will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2011, which will be announced in January, 2012. |
