Congratulations to Our Volunteer of the Month
March 2007

Mr. Matt Marquez and Ms. Rebecca Anakotta have been selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for March 2007 for their commitment to the Youth Sports Program during the past 12 months as Presidents of the Tennyson American Little League, a volunteer youth sports organization that serves 120 Hayward youth, ages 5 to 12 years. Rebecca and Matt assumed the youth organization helm during a difficult time of the Tennyson American Little League.

They volunteer numerous hours weekly to insure that practices, games and the fundraising events of the League run smoothly.  The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District benefits from Rebecca and Matt’s personal commitment during the Little League season and their close liaison with the Youth Sports Program staff on a daily basis to insure that the fields, score booths and snack shack are well maintained and readily available to the League participants and the community.

Rebecca and Matt have tirelessly and consistently shown that they are the kind of persons who are worthy of being recognized for their expanded effort as Presidents of the Tennyson American Little League to maintain, upgrade and strengthen the opportunities and experiences on behalf of the youth in the Tennyson area.

They will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2007, which will be announced in late January.

He goes above and beyond with his duties to the Older Adult Program.  For example, the trip to the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade was on a very busy Saturday evening, when traffic was heavy and the trip took some extra planning, which allowed the seniors to see and enjoy an event they normally would not have attended.  Burt Yin has shown true dedication and has been very dependable for over six years; he is a great leader and role model for other van drivers and his volunteer efforts have truly made a positive impact on the older adults he has met and provided service for.

He will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2007, which will be announced in late January.
