Congratulations to Our Volunteer of the Month

Ms. Regina Weaver
The Volunteer Hayward Program staff is very pleased to nominate Ms. Regina Weaver for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for February 2008.  Regina has been a volunteer in the Volunteer Hayward Program for the past seven years.  She first started with volunteer recruiting and matching, and assisted with the Adopt-A-Family Program.

It is very difficult to describe Regina’s skills and contributions, but the following are some of the activities that she has helped out with – Adopt-A-Family, where she has taken leadership to assist with organizing the recruitment of families, corporate matching, and the storage and distribution of donations; Holidays programs for the Ashland Community Center, the Matt Jimenez Community Center and the District’s volunteer kitchen crew; Scholastic book sales, where she was instrumental in working with Scholastic Books to pave the way for volunteers to work at their warehouse in exchange for merchandise, and her extra efforts above and beyond the call of duty to build the entire infrastructure to get Prom Possible up and running.  In addition to the above, Regina Weaver continues to help with numerous community events, including street fairs, community clean-up day, events at Ashland Community Center and festivals.

In conclusion, Regina is a remarkable, caring and motivated volunteer.  Her organizational abilities and attention to detail are remarkable.  She is an outstanding example of today’s busy woman who finds time to help out in the community, makes a meaningful impact on the community and represents the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District outstandingly.

Her picture will be displayed in the District Administration Office as the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Awardee for February 2008.  In addition, she will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2008, which will be announced in January 2009.
