has been selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for
September 2009 for his dedication and hard work as a Junior Camp Counselor
for Camps Tenderfoot and Potowatomi during the past four summers. Mr. Baker
donated a total of 160 volunteer hours during this year’s summer day camp alone.
As a Junior Camp Counselor, Glenn (or “Poultry” as he is known at Camp) is
responsible for the care and well-being of up to twelve campers each week and
assisting the Camp Directors and Counselors in many ways. He has led a variety
of camp activities and supervised campers for their safety. At the 2009 summer
camp, Glenn showed exceptional support when he was assigned to work with a
young camper with diabetes. He proceeded to offer his assistance to the camper
without drawing undo attention to insure that the camper had a successful and
integrated camp experience just like all the other campers.
Glenn Baker is a dedicated and devoted Junior Camp Counselor and the Camp
Counselors describe Poultry as an exceptional human being, the most
sincere person you will ever meet and out of this world. He truly
enjoys the camp experience every year, which he said is the best experience
one can have in the summer. In addition to volunteering as a camp enthusiast,
Glenn is a principal dancer for the Oakland Ballet.
He will be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2009, which will
be announced in January. |
