has been selected for the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award for his hard work and dedication at the Castro Valley Swim Center, where he has been a volunteer since 2005. Michael has logged over 100 hours as a Junior Guard during the months of July and August 2008.
Michael has been the longest standing Junior Guard at the Castro Valley Swim Center. During the past two summers, he has been a steady figure in the office and out in the water, checking-in patrons, helping out with administrative tasks and providing aid to the guards during the swim lessons. In addition to his wide range of volunteer responsibilities that he carried out very enthusiastically, Michael went a little further to relieve staff of their petty chores and helped water plants and carry hoses when needed. Michael also provides a type of leadership among the Junior Guard staff that is unsurpassed amongst his peers. These intangibles are hard to quantify.
Needless to say, Michael is a Junior Guard “captain” with a wide range of other skills that staff of the Castro Valley Swim Center value incredibly. He is very deserving of the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Award and the Aquatics Staff is delighted to nominate Michael Fong as recipient of the award.
His picture will be displayed in the District Administration Office as the Monthly Volunteer Recognition Awardee for July 2008. In addition, he will be eligible for the Volunteer-of-the-Year Award for 2008, which will be announced in January 2009. |
