  • You can meet new people and make new friends
  • You can learn about your community and contribute to the community's well-being.
  • You can develop your new skills (professional growth)
  • You can use old skills
  • You can learn something new (personal growth)
  • You can gain a sense of accomplishment
  • You can earn credit for school
  • Receive recognition
  • You can have fun!

How do I get involved?

Also contact Donna Fitzwater, by e-mail volunteer@haywardrec.org

Select a volunteer opportunity, complete a volunteer application, complete orientation and training, and begin volunteering. That is it! The more you give, the happier you will be!

Ask the staff about scheduling a visit for that specific recreation program. Get to know the staff and environment. Ask for a job description. Decide whether the volunteer job, environment, and time commitment are a good match for you.
