These programs can be offered as a series, but not all can be done in one day.  Limit one program per group per day.

Torac head.JPGNature’s Recyclers

Find out about the problems our planet is currently facing.  What impact have human actions had on the earth?  What are some of the things that we can do to help reduce our impact on the planet’s resources?  Meet a turkey vulture, an opossum, and darkling beetles.  Find out how these animals have adapted to live their live so close to humans and how they themselves help to clean up the environment.  Make a bird feeder or a bird house out of recycled materials for an additional fee.

rattlesnake.jpgVenomous vs. Poisonous
Learn the differences between organisms that are venomous and organisms that are poisonous.  Discover what plants and animals that live around us are venomous or poisonous.  Learn the different types of warning signs that organisms give to show they are dangerous.  Meet a snake, a tarantula, and an amphibian, and discuss the different ways that they defend themselves.  Add on a nature hike to identify poisonous and non-poisonous plants, and look for signs of animals for an additional fee.

077.JPGSpecies on the Brink
When people think endangered species, they usually think of the big, flagship species, such as the polar bear or the bald eagle.  However, here in California we have a number of species, some large and some small, that are riding on the brink of extinction.  Learn the difference between an endangered species, a threatened species, and a species of special concern and discover the challenges they face.  Meet a desert tortoise, a burrowing owl, and a tiger salamander.  Discover what can be done to help save these species.  Make a bird house or feeder out of recycled materials for an additional fee.
