Shoreline Landscape

Perched on stilts above a salt marsh, the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center is your introduction to the ecology of the San Francisco Bay-Estuary. The Interpretive Center features exhibits, programs and activities designed to inspire a sense of appreciation, respect and stewardship for the Bay, its inhabitants and the services they provide. After getting an overview of the park and its features, join a naturalist on one of the many weekend interpretive programs offered.

Adapting to Rising Tides: Bay Area Communities Working Together
The Bay is rising and this is projected to continue. Today's flood is expected to be the future's high tide. The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission is partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Services Center to work with Bay Area communities to begin planning for sea level rise. The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District is participating in this partnership as part of the planning process to bring information to the public through programs and activities at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center.  For more information about the A.R.T. Project, visit http://risingtides.csc.noaa.gov/ or contact Interpretive Center staff naturalists about sea-level rise related programs at shoreline@haywardrec.org
