Held annually at the Kenneth C. Aitken Senior & Community Center, this event is fun for all! In addition to the tea, there is a table-decorating contest. Participants bring what is needed to decorate their tea table. The tables are judged, and a prize is given for the best-decorated table. Tea sandwiches and other delicious goodies are served with the tea.

Return of the B-Boy – Break Dance Contest

This event is held the 4th Sunday in March at 1:00pm and celebrates the Hayward Area Senior Center's Anniversary and recognizes its dedicated volunteers. The annual “Volunteer of the Year" will be named and entertainment and hors d'oevres are included. The program is free of charge and open to the public.

This event is held annually the Saturday before Easter at Kennedy Park. The Easter Bonnet Parade is led by the Easter Bunny for children ages 6 years old and under who wear homemade bonnets. Prizes are given to those bonnets judged as the prettiest, most unusual, and most colorful. The Egg Hunt is for children between the ages of 3 and 9 years old.

This annual flea market is held at the Hayward Area Senior Center, and it is a fundraising event for Senior Programs. Tables are available to rent for vendors to sell items and may be reserved in advance. The Flea Market is open to the public and isfrom 8 a.m. to 2 p.m..

Kidz can play Nintendo wii, take part in a science project, dance, play dodge ball, play board games and socialize in a safe environment. This event will give youth an opportunity to develop social skills, enhance motor skills, stimulate their curiosity, be physically active, learn good sportsmanship and gain self-esteem while participating in a group activity.

Come to Sulphur Creek Nature Center and experience Halloween with an unusual twist. Find out the real truth about Halloween creatures from our friendly forest creatures and their handlers. Let owls, snakes, spiders, toads and other mysterious and creepy animals tell you their tale inside the dark chambers of Sulphur Creek's UnHaunted House. Enjoy the rest of the day with Halloween crafts, storytelling, playing great games, and roasting hotdogs or marshmallows around a campfire along with tasty treats. And back by popular demand, a special night hike will be available Saturday night only. Tickets are for specific time slots, so be sure to sign up early and choose an alternate time.

Each booth is designed, built, and decorated by the MJCC Staff.  Please Note: There will be a “Haunted House” that will feature goblins and ghouls, and other very scary elements… boo!

This event, held at the Hayward Plunge, is a Thanksgiving morning lap swim special event with door prizes and lots of fun! Everyone works the body before the big Turkey dinner!   For the past few years this event has been a fund raising event for the Karen M. Gordon Scholarship Fund.   Karen Gordon was an employee who died tragically in a car accident on her way to work at the Hayward Plunge Indoor Swim Center.   Each year two or more college scholarships are given out to qualified college student lifeguards in Northern California.   Come and support this worthwhile cause!!
