Everyone is invited to come to this fundraising event benefiting our Senior Programs.  There will be over 55 vendors selling one of a kind items.  There will also be a snack bar and a bake sale with homemade goodies, so bring your appetite.  Don’t miss this special event!  Tables are available to rent for vendors to sell items and may be reserved in advance.  Tables cost $20.00 each and the limit is 2 tables per person.  The Flea Market is open to the public.

This event is held annually the Saturday before Easter at Kennedy Park. The Easter Bonnet Parade is led by the Easter Bunny for children ages 6 years old and under who wear homemade bonnets. Prizes are given to those bonnets judged as the prettiest, most unusual, and most colorful. The Egg Hunt is for children between the ages of 3 and 9 years old.

Senior Health & Wellness Resource Fair

The Kenneth Aitken Senior Center hosts our Annual Senior Health and Wellness Resource Fair in the beginning of May to celebrate Older Americans Month.  This event is a collaboration between HARD, the Castro Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Castro Valley Adult School, Senior Services Foundation and the City of Hayward Paratransit.  Participants are able to collect information from over 60 vendors, partake in wellness demonstrations and informational seminars.  This is a free all-ages event.  The first 200 people through the door receive a special gift!

Some artists work in a very controlled manner observing minute details about their subject and surroundings while others work in a more gestural manner creating an impression of their environment. This member show is represented by various printmaking mediums including bookmaking, etching, lithography, woodcut, silkscreen, mono-printing and other mixed mediums involving prints.  The California Society of Printmakers is a non-profit arts organization which promotes the practice and appreciation of fine art printmaking.

Feast on BBQ prepared by the naturalist staff and celebrate Dad's special day. Bring your sleeping bags and small tents for this exclusive camping event. The Shoreline is a very windy place in the summer, so come prepared with warm clothes! We'll provide all the food and entertainment. Moms, grandparents, aunts and uncles welcome! Go fishing, find bugs, take hikes, build sandcastles, play games, roast marshmallows and learn about the animals and plants that make up the Shoreline habitat. Registration required. Meet at 3050 West Winton Avenue in Hayward.  Adult & Child  Pair: $75.  Additional Child Participant: $10.  Additional Adult Participant: $25.

Take part in the behind-the-scenes tours, live animal appearances, and much more. This is a fundraising event benefiting the wildlife education and rehabilitation programs of Sulphur Creek Nature Center. Join us for a wonderful morning; breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice & coffee.  Sulphur Creek Nature Center will be at the event to share some wild critters from 10:00-11:00am.  All can take part in Nintendo Wii as well!  This event is co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Hayward-Castro Valley.  The Kiwanis Club and students from the Hayward and Castro Valley Key Club will cook and serve the breakfast.  This intergenerational celebration is open to all ages, so bring the whole family!  Tickets for this event are $3.50 for adults and $2.50 for children.  Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door the day of the event.

Join us in a haunting adventure when you come to Sulphur Creek Nature Center to find out the real truth about Halloween’s dark and creepy creatures. Enjoy the rest of the evening with Halloween crafts, storytelling, playing great games, tasty treats and roasting marshmallows over a campfire. For those who love adventure in the dark, be sure to follow our naturalist on specially scheduled night hikes along the back trail. Tickets for the Unhaunted House are for specific time slots, so be sure to sign up early. Price only includes entrance into the Unhaunted House. Children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult.

This annual event is designed for all ages and includes activities for the very young who don’t want to be scared… and those teenagers that want to see something that will have them talking about how scary it was!  Activities include carnival style games with a Halloween flare, face painting, and plenty of candy teamed with some healthy alternatives.  Each game is only a $.25 to play! Each booth is designed, built, and decorated by the MJCC Staff.  Please Note: There will be a “Haunted House” that will feature goblins and ghouls, and other very scary elements… boo!

This event is a Thanksgiving morning lap swim special event with door prizes and lots of fun! Everyone works the body before the big Turkey dinner!  This event has been a fundraising event for the Karen M. Gordon Scholarship Fund.  Karen Gordon was an employee who died tragically in a car accident on her way to work at the Hayward Plunge Indoor Swim Center.  Each year, two or more college scholarships are given out to qualified college student lifeguards in Northern California. Come and support this worthwhile cause!!
