The Greater Hayward Area Recreation and Park Foundation

The Greater Hayward Area Recreation and Park Foundation was initiated in 1983 and is a tax exempt entity made up of private citizens with a goal to preserve the quality of parks and recreation facilities and programs within the boundaries of the Hayward Area Recreation & Park District. The Greater Hayward Area Recreation and Park Foundation has enabled citizens and businesses alike in the community to show their support and park and recreation services by providing an avenue for making tax-deductible donation to the programs or facilities of their choice. In addition, the Foundation sponsors fund-raising events each year, proceeds of which go towards the betterment of leisure programs and facilities.

Over the years, the Foundation Board of Directors have voted to provide funds towards a number of items including: Arts & Crafts equipment for the Sorensdale Handicapped Center, Flexible climber system for the gymnastics center, pool step entry system for the Mt. Eden Swim Center, portable ballet barres for the San Felipe Community Center, high fire kiln for the Adobe Art Center, audio equipment and a sound reinforcement system for the Douglas Morrisson Theatre, inflatable pool slide for the District's swim centers, a mechanic's equipment lift for Skywest Golf Course, and a high pressure drain cleaning system for the Parks Department. Since inception of the Greater Hayward Area Recreation and Park Foundation in 1983, the Foundation has funded numerous projects and purchased items for the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
