Programs for the Disabled

For over 30 years the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District has offered Programs for Disabled.  Most of the classes, activities and programs occur at Sorensdale Recreation Center. The Center is located at 275 Goodwin Street, Hayward, CA 94544.  The center provides opportunities for developmentally disabled persons to participate in recreational, educational and daily living skill activities.

A Saturday Youth Program focuses on youth and adults 8-21 years old.  Activities include arts, crafts, community field trips, hiking and overnights.
The Ward Creek Day Camp gives campers 8 years and over the opportunity to socialize with peers in group activities, which include arts and crafts, nature study, hiking, boating, swimming, games, learning camp skills and creating skits for friends and family. The camp is held at Lake Chabot Regional Park in Castro Valley.

You can help the Programs for Disabled continue to provide unique recreational opportunities for developmentally disabled youth and adults.
