At the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District Board of Directors’ meeting on March 12, 2007 the Board approved the formation of the Castro Valley Ad Hoc Advisory Committee (CVAC), and authorized staff to begin publicizing the committee and soliciting applications. Directors Andrade and Jameson also were named as Board liaisons to the committee.
The purpose of the CVAC is to:
- Explore the interests of District residents for parks and community facilities.
- Identify areas of need for facilities and/or improvements to existing facilities.
- Identify specific locations for new parks and facilities.
- Maintain an active role in the disposition of the EBMUD site and the park that would be developed on that site.
- Work to increase Alameda County’s involvement in providing new and refurbished parks for its citizens.
- Encourage local politicians to consider funding for the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District.
On August 13, 2007 the Board appointed the following individuals to the CVAC:

The first meeting of the CVAC took place on Thursday, August 23rd, where it was determined that the committee would meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month until its mission is accomplished.
