Ms. Sophia Espinoza is remarkable example for today’s youth and what it means in giving back to community. At a young age her parents instilled in her the value of volunteering and serving the public. In 2013, when Sophia was a sophomore in high school, she joined the Hayward Youth Commission. It was through the commission that she was introduced to Volunteer Hayward and her work for the District and the City of Hayward.
Sophia is a now a senior at Moreau Catholic High School where she is considered to be a mature and kindhearted student. This past year her peers voted her president of the Hayward Youth Commission where she serves as liaison to the Hayward Coalition for Healthy Youth (HCHY). The HCHY were so impressed by her hard work and dedication that they invited her to join their youth council where she now serves on their board.
