All Bay Area artists are invited to submit work to Adobe Art Gallery’s 42nd Area Artists’ Annual Juried Exhibition.

Consider the broad theme embodying the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District’s (H.A.R.D.) mission at 75. The mission of H.A.R.D. is to enrich the quality of life for our community by providing a variety of recreation activities, parks, and facilities that promote health and wellness, learning, and fun.  

Use the following as inspiration for your artwork: community, relationship, inclusivity, environment, stability, celebration, longevity, sustainability, nature, public, free, space, parks, performance, recreation or H.A.R.D. programs or facilities. Works may be conceptual, metaphorical, poetic or place specific to the district’s mission.

Eligibility and Requirements
All Bay Area artists are invited to submit work to Adobe Art Gallery’s 42nd Area Artists’ Annual Juried Exhibition. Up to two entries per artist. Please fill out form twice for multiple entries. All 2D/3D media accepted. We have a TV for time-based media. Please see specifications. Submit via thumb drive or inquire about sending digitally. Work must be original and not previously shown at Adobe Art Gallery. Maximum weight is 50 lbs. All framed work must be wired and professionally mounted. Plexiglass is preferred over glass. Please inquire about work that is site-specific or requires special handling/installation. All selected works must remain for the duration of the show. Adobe Art Gallery reserves the right of final selection of work shown.

Entry Fees
A nonrefundable entry fee of $25 for up to two pieces is payable when artwork is delivered. Please bring cash or a check payable to H.A.R.D. Discounted entry fee of $20 for Adobe Gallery volunteers (with >6 hours in 2019) and A.R.T., Inc. Members.

Register for exhibit (link to come) and pay online with a credit card. Or bring cash or check payable to H.A.R.D.: Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District upon delivery of artwork. Deliver artwork to Adobe Art Gallery at 20395 San Miguel Avenue, Castro Valley, CA 94546.

Important Dates
09/10: 12am–Deadline to Submit Online Entry Form (link to come) (see below)
09/12: 6–8pm & 9/14: 10am–12pm–Hand deliver artwork to Adobe Art Gallery 20395 San Miguel Ave., Castro Valley.

Work may be dropped off in protective packaging or shipped (FedEx recommended) to Attn: Leah Virsik/Adobe Art Gallery, H.A.R.D. District Office, 1099 ‘E’ Street, Hayward, CA 94541 from 09/03–09/12 between 9am–5pm. If shipped, include return shipping and entry fee payable to H.A.R.D. Please also email adobegallery@haywardrec.org to inform gallery to expect the work.

09/19: 12pm–Artists Notified of Jury Decision
09/19: 6–8pm and 09/21: 10am–3pm*–Artists pick up work not selected by juror
10/05: 1–3pm Awards and Reception for the Artists Awards will be announced at 1:45pm. Please bring artist statement/bio/resumé for binder.
12/07: Exhibit ends
12/07: 3–5pm or 12/10: 10am–12pm* Pick up artwork 

*Work left after this time incurs a $5 storage fee per day/per artwork.

Juror Information and Awards

Artwork Sales
Sale of exhibited work will be conducted through Adobe Art Gallery and all applicable sales tax will be charged. Adobe Art Gallery requires a 30% commission of the sale price from the artist. A completed W-9 is required from Artist in order to process payment. In the event of sale, artist will receive 70% portion of sale via check from H.A.R.D. usually within four to six weeks of exhibit end date. Artist will be notified of work(s) sold, date sold, name and contact information of patron, price sold, and amount due to artist.

Artwork Images
Artist agrees to allow Adobe Art Gallery to use photographic reproductions of work to document and promote the exhibition. Please email images of your artworks for publicity (300dpi/6"x8"/jpg) to adobegallery@haywardrec.org. Name as: LastNameFirstNameTitle.jpg

Insurance
Artist will provide their own insurance if desired. H.A.R.D. is self-insured and does not carry insurance for items submitted to the Gallery and cannot be responsible for any loss or damage. All work is submitted at the Artist’s own risk. The Gallery will make every effort possible for safe handling of all work. Additionally, the Gallery is secured with an alarm system and is under the protection of Parks and Recreation security personnel.

Artist agrees to loan submitted work. Artist agrees not to remove exhibited work until the end of the exhibition. Work must be original and not previously shown at the gallery. Adobe Art Gallery reserves the right of final selection of the work to be shown.
